Bloody Sunrise is in stock again..

Our latest best seller, much to my surprise, is a fine pepper jelly created by my hubbie.
I have more of a sweet tooth myself and enjoy a pepper jelly as much as the next person but this one will knock your socks off.
A recent customer described the taste sensation as a "party in his mouth!!!"
Chocked full of hot peppers such as habanero's, Thai green chili's and jalapeno's you have to try this jelly if you have a hankering for something on the hotter side.

We have planted an assortment of peppers in the green house and are hoping for a big crop later in the summer so that we can experiment with more pepper jellies for you to enjoy.
This morning was the first day of summer holidays for the girls, any nice mommy would have let them sleep in but not me. I yanked them out by the toes @ 6:30 this morning and went strawberry u-picking with friends again @ Good'n'Plenty Produce.
What a great start to the summer.

And the winner is...................

Not that there was a competition to begin with!!!

My dear friend SAM was my very first follower to my new blog and business venture.
I know I can always count on my gal pals to be there for me and it's so heart warming to see people take a minute out of their busy lives to pop in and take a peek at what's going on in kylietown!!
So Miss Sam, as per your request, one jar of Strawberry Habanero jam is headed your way!!! Stay posted for more chances to acquire one of our concoctions!!

Heading out to the u-pick on Thursday if there are any people interested in getting down and dirty!!!

I heart Strawberries.

So a busy week of jamming , I posted my new flavours on facebook and have been selling my goodies via word of mouth...no overhead, it's working out fabulously. If this keeps up I may have to quit my day job (sorry kids) and take jamming on full time.
I used up all my berries from the u-pick and am looking forward to another trip next week. If anyone has any flavour suggestions that they would like to see then drop me a line......I dare you.....I'll do it!!!
Here's a list of what I've made so far:

Strawberry Lavender...looks like strawberry, tastes like heaven.
Strawberry Ginger...wee little chunks of candied ginger floating around in the strawberry jam...just hanging out.
Strawberry Rhubarb...Kinda old fashioned but kicked it up with a little cinnamon and cardamom.
Plain Jayne.....named after moi....just plain and sweet.
and.......drum roll please...
Strawberry Habanero....need I say more?????

For all you local Lavington people, if you're craving berries don't forget to check out Zelaney's on Petworth drive for all your seasonal fruit and vegetables. Or find them at the Vernon Framers Market every Monday and Thursday.
I've not been for a visit yet to check out their strawberries, I hear their carrots are ready too.
Tomorrow is the last day of school for my kids so I'm looking forward to nicer weather, more jammin' and little hands to help out around here!!!
Look out summer, here we come!

And so it begins....

STRAWBERRIES are here!!!!
Now I can really start pumping out my creations thanks to the helpful and talented strawberry guys at this place. The name says it all "Good' n' Plenty, their produce is fantastic and there is an abundance that's for sure. You can find them tucked just off hwy 97A on pleasant valley road or click on this Link for a map.

Picking hours are between 7am and 11am ( I strongly suggest getting in early before the day gets too hot and the other pickers arrive). This fellow (didn't catch his name) was a real gem. We were supplied with buckets and picking instructions and sent on our way to the strawberry field.
I was informed that the variety we were picking was called  " Honey eye" and that the other variety that they grow would be ready shortly after.

Strawberry season is usually quite short lived so I will be stocking up while they are at their peak and jamming at full speed. This trip yielded about 17 pounds (4 ice cream buckets full ) of berries which produced about 50 jars of jam. So another couple of trips are slated for next week.

I must say though that picking with friends makes the time fly right on by. In about 1 hour of picking between three ladies there were 12 buckets of summer love picked, I definitely recommend bringing another person to share the fresh air and sunshine and to keep you company. I plan on taking my kids with me on another trip next week.

After you're all done picking the friendly fellows will weigh your loot and at $1.80 a pound it's a steal. Giggles are free of charge. Thanks Sam and Sheri......what a fun day.
So if you're interested in picking your own fresh, NO SPRAY fruit, I would recommend these guys in a heartbeat. Support your local growers, it's good for the soul!!!!!

Welcome fellow Jammies!

I guess this makes it official. My little hobby/addiction has morphed itself into a real "grown up" business, complete with paperwork, a legal name, lots more paperwork and now a blog.
Firstly let me give a huge THANK YOU to all of the wonderful people that I like to call my Jammie's, to other people you may be customers but to me you've all played a huge part in the evolution of something very dear to my heart....feeding people and making them happy.
Making jam makes ME happy and it's so nice to be able to do something just for the love of it and be rewarded with requests for more. So again...THANK YOU.

This summer I will be jamming like a woman possessed, and loving every minute of it.
The aim is to highlight all of the wonderful ingredients we have here in the Okanagan valley and make yummy preserves combining unusual flavours.

Your taste buds will become my market research and you opinions will help to shape my products.

So check in with me every now and again and see what's new. If you are one of my regulars feel free to give feedback on your jam purchase.
